In order to freeze the location on Find My iPhone, you will need to turn on Lost Mode in the Find My app on your iPhone or have your carrier report it as lost or stolen.
Once Lost Mode is enabled, the device cannot be tracked and the Find My app will display the device as “Offline”. The device will also be locked with a passcode and any associated Apple Pay cards will be disabled. Additionally, the device’s location will be frozen and will not update until Lost Mode is disabled.
To disable Lost Mode, sign into your Apple ID on the Find My app or have your carrier report that the device is no longer lost or stolen. Once this is done, the device will be unlocked, Apple Pay will be re-enabled, and the device’s location will begin to update again.
It is important to note that once Lost Mode is enabled, no one will be able to use the device until the mode is disabled. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you are the one with access to the device before enabling Lost Mode.
