Removing fiberglass from clothing is a challenging job. First, try to get as much of the fibers off of the material as possible by gently brushing off the loose fibers with a soft brush. Then, take the clothing outside and lay it flat in the sun. The sunlight will help to loosen the remaining fibers. Next, apply a paste made of baking soda, vinegar, and a little bit of dish soap to the affected area. Gently rub the paste into the clothing with a soft brush in a small circular motion. Allow the paste to sit for several minutes, then rinse off with cool water. If the fibers still remain, try using a vacuum cleaner attachment or tweezers to get rid of them. Finally, wash the clothing on a cold, gentle cycle in the washing machine and air dry. Make sure the clothing is fully dry before wearing again.
If this doesn’t work, it is best to discard the clothing, as the fibers can be difficult to remove and may cause irritation if they are left in the material.
